Agnes School is a candidate school
Agnes School is officially recognised as a “candidate school” with a view to offer the IB Diploma Programme – International Baccalaureate – to its future students in the 5th and 6th year of secondary school.

Agnes School intends to offer the IB Diploma Programme for its students’ final two years of secondary school. The “IB Diploma Programme” offers the prospect of an globally recognised bilingual international diploma.
The “candidate school” status is the first step in an accreditation process with the aim of becoming an IB World School. The IB World Schools share the same philosophy: a commitment to high-quality, stimulating, international education.
The IB Diploma Programme is unique in its academic and personal rigour. It “prepares students to succeed in higher education and to be active participants in a globalised society”.
A common mission and project
Students in the Diploma Programme learn to take responsibility for their education and become the independent learners the world needs.

Agnes School’s mission is in line with that of the IB: Instil in students a desire lifelong learning with enthusiasm and empathy. Agnes School and the IB share a common ambition to make students grounded individuals who are able to face challenges with optimism and openness, make ethical decisions, join others in celebrating the bonds that bind them and make the world a better place.

Curriculum
The curriculum consists of six groups of main subjects and a common core curriculum.
Students are able to make choices in composing the individual curriculum, enabling differentiation according to learning interests and the level of specialisation sought. Guided by a Diploma Programme Coordinator and academic referees, students choose three subjects that they will study at a high level, and three other subjects that they will study at a standard level.
For the majority of the courses, the primary language is French. Other courses are taught in English or Dutch, leading to a bilingual degree.

Subject groups
The subject groups are:
- Studies in languages and literature: French, and English or Dutch
- Language acquisition: Latin
- Individuals and companies: History
- Science: Chemistry
- Mathematics: mathematics
- Options: to be defined

Independent learning projects may be accommodated, in agreement with the management, at the request of the parents and the student (e.g. via the IB-certified platform “PAMOJA” for autonomous learning of a mother tongue, a business management or psychology module, etc.)

A school community at the service of students
Students are surrounded by a whole school community, consisting of a diploma coordinator, specially trained teachers and referents, who ensure that the student feels safe, stimulated and successful. The coaching system, specific to Agnes School, complements the education. The librarian and the community of parents and friends of the school are valuable resources to accompany and support young students.
A quality infrastructure is available to students. There is a documentation centre with encyclopaedias, reference books and other books and periodicals. Digital resources are accessible via the school’s subscriptions to different platforms. A computer park allows online work. Outdoor spaces, recreational activities and sports, promote a healthy lifestyle.
